This match was very important for the Mumbai Indians they had still not qualified for the semis.On the other side Kings XI Punjab were 90% sure that they would be in the semis and a win would make them sure about the semis.Both teams were in a winning streak.Mumbai Indians captain Tendulkar won the toss and chose to field first.
Kings XI Punjab did not had a good start.They lost the wicket of Hopes in the first over and he got out for zero.Pomerbach was send one down and then again the two Australians took had a good partnership.They shared the partnership of 133.In the 15th over Marsh got out.Marsh scored 81 of 56 with 7 fours and 4sixes.Pomerbach remained not out till the end he scored 79 of 50 with 10fours and 3sixes. Kings XI Punjab made 189 in their 20 overs with the loss of just 4wickets.
For chasing the target of 190 Mumbai Indians wanted good and fast start from their openers.
Jayasuria made 20 0f 12 with 1fours and 2sixes but got out LBW to Sreshanth but still their run rate was fine then came Dyan Smith to bat playing first match,he was also looking good but he got run out of 20 when the score was 81 in the 9th over.Mumbai Indians were looking in a comfortable position until Tendulkar got run out.He made 65 of 46 with 12 fours and on the very next ball Pollock got out.So they were 159 for five in 17.1 overs and Mumbai Indians required 31 of 17 balls.In the last ball of 18th over Uthappa also got out and know they required 27 in two over with four wickets in hand.In the last over Mumbai Indians needed to make 19 runs to win with just three wickets in hand.First ball from the VRV Singh was a high full toss which was hit for six and also called no ball by the umpire,so 12 of 6 requied then their lower order batsmen were not able to keep thier cool and got run out.Mumbai Indians required 2 runs of the last ball and it was the last wicket but they were not able to do this and Kings XI Punjab won the match by one wicket.Total 5 batsmen got tun out of Mumbai Indians.
SE Marsh got the man of the match for his 81 and Kings XI Punjab were sure about the semi final.And know Mumbai Indians would have to win few more matches to qualify for the semis.
