Delhi Daredevils V Kings XI Punjab

Posted by cricjoy On 2:18 PM

This was more important match for the Delhi Daredevils because Kolkatta and Mumbai were know also looking to qualify for the semis. So if they lose the match they would allow the other teams to move in front of them.So winning the toss Sehwag chose to bat first.

As usual they had a good opening stand.Gautam Ghambhir scored 40 of 28 balls with 7fours.He got out in the 7th over when the score was 75.Then Dhawan came to bat. They were set to make the total of more then 200 but rain interrupted in the match. So the match was reduced to 11 overs. So this was more of a disadvantage for the Delhi Daredevils. When game was started from 8.1 over Sehwag was not able to hit big boundaries and in the last over Hopes only gave away 2 runs and took 2 wickets. So Delhi Daredevils made 118 in 11overs.Sehwag made 51 not out of just 26 with 5 sixes and two fours.Hopes and Pawar both took two wickets.

So chasing 11 runs per over Kings XI Punjab had to start well.Their openers did not do any thing good for them.Yuvraj came to bat hit three sixs and a four and got out.He scored 23 of 8.Then the unbeaten partnership between Jayawardene and Pomerbach took them to victory by D/L.Pomerbach scored 25 of 12 and Jayawardene scored 36 of 17 and got the man of the match.McGrath took two wickets for his team but we can say they were little bit unlucky.
